A few weeks ago, I attempted a Book A Day Challenge… I failed miserably. BUT, I DID do more reading in one week than I had in quite awhile. So, here is day two of the challenge. Written after Day One.
Apparently sleep came first. That’s ok, I’m going to try again today…I was able to find 30 minutes to read the book of the day today… Funny, it seems that’s just about all the time I am able to commit to this…Maybe my directive will change.
Today, I tackled a chapter of Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown. I bought to read with a book club that I tried to start with some friends, online. The club failed miserably, as we ALL forgot to get onto our Marco Polo group at the set date and time to discuss the first chapter. I think we were all too embarrassed to try again. The topic of the book is interesting. As stated in the subtitle: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone. I had heard such good things about this author I wanted to begin reading her work. I have looked for belonging and felt as if I’ve stood alone a lot in the course of my life. The first two chapters talked about loneliness and the deep rooted sense and need to belong. I could relate so well! Once I’ve finished the book, I will give a better description. Bur for now, let me say, what I’ve liked about the book is Brene’s candid writing style, and seemingly well researched points on belonging and standing alone. Can’t wait to read more.
